If your family is split between Kerala and the Gulf, you have probably made this trip more times than you can count. The calculator above is already set to Kochi and Dubai, the busiest of these routes. Below are the real flight times from Kerala's three main airports to every major Gulf city, which airport and airline tend to work best, and a few things worth sorting before you land.

These are nonstop estimates. Most Kerala to Gulf flights are a comfortable four hours or so, which is why so many of them fly through the night and land in the early morning.

Which Kerala airport should you fly from?

The honest answer is whichever one is nearest you, because the flight times barely differ. That said, each has its own character. Kochi (COK) has the widest choice of airlines and Gulf cities, so if you want options or a specific carrier, it is usually the safest bet. Calicut (CCJ) is the heart of Gulf travel for the Malabar region and is heavily focused on the UAE, so fares there are competitive even if the choice of destinations is narrower. Trivandrum (TRV) works best for the southern districts and has good links to the UAE and Muscat.

Airlines on the Kerala to Gulf routes

You will mostly choose between budget and full-service. On the budget side, Air India Express, IndiGo, Air Arabia (into Sharjah) and flydubai keep fares low and run frequently. For more comfort or a through-connection, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways and Oman Air serve the bigger Kerala airports. One thing Gulf travellers care about more than most is baggage, since people carry a lot back and forth, so check the checked-bag allowance carefully before you book, because the cheapest fare is not always the cheapest once you add a heavy bag.

The best and cheapest time to fly

Fares on these routes swing hard with the calendar. They spike around Eid, the summer school holidays, Onam and the Christmas and New Year window, when everyone is heading home or back. If your dates are flexible, the quieter weeks just after the summer rush are usually the kindest on price. For festival travel, the single best thing you can do is book early; waiting rarely pays off on a route this much in demand.
